In a recent interview with a food journalist, Rahul Gandhi discussed his eating habits and named a fellow politician in India who he considers to be the “best chef” in the political world. According to Gandhi, the previous Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, prepares the best food, while Gandhi’s mother, Sonia Gandhi, is considered to be the best cook in the Gandhi family. A representative of the Congress party uploaded a sample of their whole conversation with Kunal Vijayakar to Instagram and shared it with their followers.
In an interview with the YouTube channel ‘Khaane Mein Kya Hai,’ he emphasized that “among all of them, his mother makes the best food,” even though his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whom he ranked second in cooking skills, might not like it. He ranked her as the second best cook in the family.
The former Wayanad representative ranked himself a distant third in the Gandhi household in terms of culinary expertise.
Gandhi elaborated on his culinary preferences by stating that he preferred coffee in the morning and tea in the evening. Due to his sweet tooth, he prefers Indian mithai to French desserts.
During a food walk in Old Delhi, where he sampled renowned dishes from the Matia Mahal market and the Bengali market, the interview was recorded. In these areas, he also sampled the renowned’sherbet’ vendor and ‘golgappas’ from Nathu candies.

Gandhi vacated his official bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi and moved into his mother Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Saturday, following his disqualification as an MP due to his conviction in the ‘Modi surname’ defamation case by a Surat court. Since 2005, Gandhi occupied the12 Tughlaq Lane residence for nearly two decades.
His return to the nation’s capital was marked by two days of campaigning in Karnataka, where he posted pictures of himself savoring ice cream at a Nandini milk shop amidst a controversy surrounding Amul’s entry into the state.
