On Monday, Congress member Rahul Gandhi reiterated his ‘democracy under attack’ argument, stating that he will continue to assert that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are assaulting India’s independent institutions.
“Now, the Prime Minister, the BJP, and the RSS are confused. They believe themselves to be India. No matter how arrogant or what he believes, the PM is one Indian citizen, not the entire nation. “In no way is an attack on the Prime Minister, the BJP, or the RSS an attack on India,” Gandhi said at a public meeting in his Wayanad, Kerala, constituency.
“However, by attacking India’s independent institutions, they are attacking India.” And I won’t stop repeating it,” the Congress leader was quoted as saying by media.”
The BJP criticises Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in the United Kingdom in which he claimed that democracy in India was under attack and that the opposition was under constant threat of being charged with “unreasonable” crimes. Gandhi’s comments have sparked a tremendous uproar in India, with the BJP demanding an apology from him in Parliament.
The Delhi Police visited Rahul Gandhi’s residence on Sunday in search of information about the’sexual harassment victims’ he mentioned during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar.
