Twitter fires a large number of workers in Dublin and Singapore

In the most recent round of job cuts, which will last until 2023, Twitter fired several people from the content moderation teams in Singapore and Dublin. Elon Musk bought Twitter last year and has since cut the number of employees from 7,500 to less than 2,500.

Twitter fired a lot of people from its trust and safety teams in January. These people worked in Singapore and Dublin. According to a Bloomberg report, Elon Musk’s social media platform fired people who were in charge of global content moderation and regulating content related to hate speech and harassment.

Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, who was in charge of site integrity for Twitter’s Asia-Pacific region, and Analuisa Dominguez, who was in charge of revenue policy, are two of the most important people that Musk has fired as the company continues to cut jobs. In the recent round of firings, the report said, roles related to policy on misinformation, global appeals, and state media were also taken away.

Ella Irwin, Twitter’s head of trust and safety, told Bloomberg that this was true and that several staff members had been fired in the latest round of cuts. She also said that teams that didn’t get enough “volume” had their jobs cut. However, Twitter’s appeals department got new workers, and the platform will still have a head of revenue policy and a head of trust and safety for the Asia-Pacific region.

Musk bought Twitter last year for USD 44 billion, which was partly paid for by USD 13 billion in debt. He then cut the company’s staff from 7,500 to 2,500. He said that as of November 2022, the company was losing $4 million every day.
