In an effort to strengthen India-U.S. connections, newly appointed U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti shared on Friday some of the’most memorable’ moments from his week-long meetings with numerous renowned public figures in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
On Twitter, Garcetti posted a one-minute-long video clip with the caption, “This week, I spent time in the remarkable cities of Ahmedabad and Mumbai meeting with key stakeholders, discussing strategies, and strengthening the long-standing relationship between the United States and India. Here is a view of some of the trip’s most memorable moments for me.”

His visit to the iconic Gateway of India, a car journey with Anand Mahindra, attendance at an Indian Premier League game, and a meeting with Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan were among the events documented in the video. During his two-day visit to Mumbai, Garcetti visited various religious sites, sampled bun maska at an Irani café, toured the Jewish synagogue ‘Keneseth Eliyahoo,’ and met former national cricket captain Mithali Raj.

During his visit, Garcetti also paid his respects at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel’s 26/11 Memorial. In a tweet, he conveyed his profound emotions regarding the visit and his commitment to bringing those responsible for the 26/11 terrorist attacks to justice. He reaffirmed the unbreakable alliance between the United States and India in the fight against global terrorism.

In addition, Garcetti conferred with Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, and Shah Rukh Khan at his Mumbai residence, Mannat. Garcetti proposed during a meeting with Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais that Mumbai and Ahmedabad contemplate hosting the 2036 Olympics.
