Manipur Violence:Nine killed in fresh violence in Manipur

SP Imphal East According to Shivkant Singh, those injured in the incident have received medical care.

“Nine people have been killed and ten others injured in fresh violence in Khamenlok this morning,” The victims were all male. The autopsy is being performed. The injured have also received treatment, Singh told mediaI.

Singh reported hearing gunfire in the area late Tuesday night.

According to official sources, the role of suspected militants in the murders is being investigated.

They reported that there have been violent incidents in the Imphal East district over the past two or three days.

In light of the current circumstance, the Manipur government has extended the ban on the internet in the state until June 15.

The Union Home Minister spent four days in Manipur beginning on 29 May and announced a series of measures to restore harmony in the state.

He met with Chief Minister N Biren Singh, leaders of various political parties, members of civil society, women, and tribal organizations, as well as senior officials.

Shah had proclaimed the formation of a peace committee in the state.

Since early May, Manipur has experienced violence due to confrontations that occurred during a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.

The Manipur High Court had requested that the state administration consider adding the Meitei tribe to the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).
