2 lakh cars jack up 20 notices each, Delhi Traffic Police begins crackdown

The details of their vehicle, registration number, owner details and other vehicle information will be put up on the traffic police website. The violator will be informed and directed to clear the dues online or offline,” added the officer.

The Delhi Traffic Police is thinking about writing to their counterparts in the states where these vehicles are registered, as well as the relevant transport departments, to urge them to take appropriate action in order to crack down on traffic violators who have more than 20 notices against them. Senior cops stated that the traffic.delhipolice.gov.in police website will be updated with information about these automobiles.

A senior official told The Indian Express that there are at least 2 lakh cars registered in Delhi and nearby states that are driving around the city with at least 20 outstanding notices for various violations. These vehicles, both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, are what we are currently focusing on. Additionally, we will write to the states informing them of the contravening automobiles and their registered owners.

According to the officer, the decision was made after it was discovered that numerous commuters had at least 20 to 30 traffic notices related to challans for crimes like overspeeding or jumping the signal still waiting against them.

The traffic police website will include information about their car, including its make, model, colour, and registration number. The offender will be warned and told to pay the fines either offline or online, the officer continued.

An officer described how a traffic notice is given to a violator: “It usually comes by mail with information on the particular offence and the location where it was committed. It was noted that the traffic police are still processing thousands of notices of violations throughout the city. The majority of them were ordinary violations like speeding, which was caught on the over speed violation detection (OSVD) cameras; running a red light; riding a two-wheeler without a helmet; or jumping a traffic signal. The Delhi Traffic Police and the relevant state’s transport department can also get in touch with violators.

The National Lok Adalat, which is scheduled to be held on July 30, is where offenders are being instructed to settle any outstanding notifications and fines against them, according to officers, even though the data for such cars has been compiled.

These signs are frequently disregarded by commuters, and the police do not give any further warnings while they are still active. A list of the vehicles that violated this will be posted on the website, according to another officer.
