In 2020, Satish Kaushik shared a photograph of his arrival in Mumbai on a train as he tried to make it as an actor. He had shared in a tweet that the city and its people gave him more than he dreamt.

Satish Kaushik had recalled his first day in Mumbai in a tweet shared in August 2020.

Thursday, Satish Kaushik perished of a heart attack in Delhi. The 66-year-old actor, screenwriter, and director was born in Haryana but went to college and graduated from the National School of Drama in Delhi. Subsequently, he enrolled at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. In 2020, the late actor recalled the day he arrived in Mumbai to pursue a career as an actor in a widely shared tweet. Satish recalled sharing a black-and-white photograph of himself against a train at the time “I arrived in Mumbai to become an actor on August 9, 1979, via the Paschim Express. 10 August was the initial morning in Bombay. Work, Friends, a Wife, Children, a Home, Love, Warmth, Struggle, Success, Failures, and the Courage to Live a Happy Life. Good Greetings, Mumbai and Everyone who gave me more than I could have ever imagined. Thx.” Several members of the Indian film industry, including Shekhar Kapur, Urmila Matondkar, Tusshar Kapoor, and Pratik Gandhi, have commented on his trajectory since then.

Thursday, after news of Satish’s passing was shared online, actor Celina Jaitly posted the same 2020 photo of Satish in Mumbai with the caption, “Kuch arsey pehle @satishkaushik2 ji had posted this humble photo of his arrival on his first morning in Mumbai. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Indian film industry. Sir, may you rest in serenity and thank you for being YOU!”
