Google celebrates International Women’s Day with a doodle

Women’s Day 2023: According to the search engine, the vignettes within each “GOOGLE” letter highlight just a few of the many areas in which women support each other to progress and improve each other’s quality of life.

International Women’s Day: Google is commemorating International Women’s Day with a special Doodle that highlights the ways in which women support and assist one another in everyday life. The search engine honours women across the globe, including women in influential positions who advocate for progress on issues central to the lives of women everywhere, women who come together to explore, learn, and rally for their rights, women who are primary carers to people of all walks of life, and women who are critical support systems for each other in motherhood.

Google said in a statement, “The vignettes within each GOOGLE letter highlight just a few of the many ways in which women help each other to advance and improve each other’s quality of life.”
International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8. The purpose of the day is to highlight the accomplishments of women in a variety of fields, while also shedding light on persistently prevalent issues such as gender inequality.

On March 19, 1911, International Women’s Day was first celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Embrace Equity. The International Women’s Day website states, “Equality is a necessity, not a luxury. A focus on gender equality must be woven into the fabric of every society. And it is essential to comprehend the distinction between Equity and Equality. The objective of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign is to get the world talking about “Why equal opportunities are insufficient.”

According to the IWD website, “Equality means that each person or group is given the same resources or opportunities,” whereas “Equity recognises that each person has unique circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities necessary to achieve an equal outcome.”
