Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, was arrested
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement that Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested as part of a “ongoing investigation” into “alleged irregularities in framing and implementing the excise policy.”
“This case was filed against the Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge Excise Minister and 14 others for an investigation into alleged mistakes in making and implementing the excise policy for 2021-22 and giving private people post-tender benefits. On December 25, 2022, a chargesheet was filed against the CEO of a private company in Mumbai and six others,” the statement said.
In the statement, the CBI said that Manish Sisodia gave vague answers and did not help with the investigation.
“The deputy chief minister gave vague answers and didn’t help with the investigation, even though there was proof that he should have. So, he has been taken into custody. The person who was arrested will be taken to the right court in Delhi,” it said.
Manish Sisodia was arrested this evening after being questioned for eight hours. The Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act say that he was arrested for “criminal conspiracy” and “intent to defraud.”

The leader of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, said that his deputy was “not guilty” and that his arrest was “dirty politics.”
“Manish is not guilty. Putting him in jail is dirty politics. The arrest of Manish has made a lot of people angry. The whole world is looking. Everyone knows everything. This is what people will do, “Kejriwal tweeted.
“He is a gentleman. He gave the government schools in Delhi a new lease on life. Good people are going to jail all over the country, and the BJP is friends with people who have stolen billions of dollars from banks. People are paying attention, and they will react. His wife has multiple sclerosis, and we met her. “Their son goes to school abroad, so Manish used to take care of his wife,” Arvind Kejriwal told the media outside Sisodia’s home.
