PM Modi and Australian PM Albanese will attend the India-Australia Test today in Ahmedabad.

The Australian Prime Minister arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening (March 8), where he and PM Modi will watch the first day of the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match.

PM Narendra Modi and his Australian PM  Anthony Albanese are on a two-day visit to Gujarat. On Thursday, they attended the opening day of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad (March 9).

The Australian Prime Minister arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening (March 8), where he and Prime Minister Modi will watch the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match today.

India-Australia Annual Summit:

According to an official release, the first in-person India-Australia Annual Summit will take place during Albanese’s visit. At the Annual Summit, leaders assess the progress made on various India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership initiatives. The summit paves the way for new initiatives and enhanced cooperation between India and Australia in a variety of sectors.

The Summit was first held virtually on June 4, 2020, according to the press release. The visit follows a series of high-level engagements and an exchange of ministerial visits between the two sides in 2022 and 2023. The last visit by an Australian PM (Malcolm Turnbull) to India was in 2017.

Australian PM Visit:

Albanese arrived at Ahmedabad airport in the evening on Wednesday and proceeded directly to the Sabarmati Ashram in the city to pay his respects to Mahatma Gandhi, who resided at the Ashram during India’s independence struggle. Albanese also attended a cultural event organised by the Gujarati government at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar for the Holi festival.

At Raj Bhavan, the Australian Prime Minister will be joined by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Governor Acharya Devvrat, and other dignitaries. On Wednesday, PM Albanese attended an event hosted by an Australian university at a hotel.

India-fourth Australia’s test match:

Both prime ministers will attend the opening day of the fourth Test between Australia and India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, today. After a few hours of watching the match, they would leave. Neeraj Badgujar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector 1, stated that more than 3,000 police officers have been deployed to the stadium and surrounding areas of Ahmedabad in anticipation of a massive influx of spectators for the cricket match.
