Manish Sisodia arrested: The CBI has arrested Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, in relation to the Delhi excise policy case. CBI officials interrogated Sisodia for nearly eight hours prior to his recent arrest.
The detention is related to allegations of corruption in the implementation of the now-abandoned liquor policy for 2021-22 in Delhi. Sisodia, the primary suspect in the CBI FIR, was questioned on October 17, a month before the agency released its charge sheet on November 25. The CBI did not identify Sisodia in the charge sheet because it was still investigating him and other suspects and defendants.

5. Mr. Sisodia was asked to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation for interrogation last Sunday, but he requested more time, citing his work on the Delhi budget. Mr. Sisodia is the minister of finance in the government of Arvind Kejriwal.
6. Mr. Sisodia stated that the summons for interrogation was the BJP’s method of retaliation for failing to get nominated members to vote in Delhi’s civic body and thus control the Mayoral elections.
7. Mr. Sisodia and others are accused of corruption for introducing a new policy for the sale of alcoholic beverages in the nation’s capital. The CBI has named seven defendants in the liquor policy case chargesheet, but Mr. Sisodia is not included.

In exchange for compensation, the CBI asserts that liquor companies were involved in drafting the 2021 liquor policy.The formulated policy would have resulted in a 12% profit for them, of which 6% would have been routed to public servants via intermediaries such as the Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Bonipally.
9. The Enforcement Directorate has also initiated an investigation, alleging that the kickbacks were laundered. It claimed that a liquor lobby known as the “South Group” paid at least 100 crore to AAP for its election campaign in Goa.
10. The BJP asserts that the Delhi government reverted to the previous policy for the sale of alcoholic beverages to conceal corruption in the excise department, which Mr. Sisodia oversees.
