BCCI invites applications for Indian Cricket team selector post

Interestingly enough, BCCI has not specified anything regarding the chairman of the selection committee in their top job intimation.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), the governing authority of cricket in India, has solicited applications for a member of the senior men’s selection committee. The notice for the aforementioned position was posted on the board’s website and then shared on their social media accounts.

Notably, the application deadline for the coveted position has been set for June 30. In addition, the selected candidates will be interviewed in order for the governing body to reach a final decision.

Surprisingly, BCCI’s top position announcement makes no mention of the chairman of the selection committee. Therefore, this may suggest that the current chairman, Shiv Sundar Das, will continue to serve as chairman in the future. In terms of his playing expertise, Das has represented India in 23 Tests.

While the other members, Salil Ankola (West), Subroto (Central), and S Sharath (South), lack extensive field experience, they are Salil Ankola (West), Subroto (Central), and S Sharath (South).

According to the PTI, if the BCCI is unable to sign a prominent player from the North Zone, the former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra is a potential replacement. During Chetan Sharma’s reappointment, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) interviewed Ratra. Vivek Razdan, a well-respected BCCI panel commentator with a wealth of experience observing domestic cricket while working in the broadcasting industry, is yet another intriguing name that may be recruited.

“If approached, I would be intrigued, and it would be a privilege to serve Indian cricket. Razdan was quoted by News18 as saying, “However, I believe that one should only apply for a selector’s position if asked to do so.”

In the same circle, the former Indian spinner Maninder Singh, who had applied twice, was also interviewed for the position. However, after the initial round of interviews, Singh did not receive a contact for a second round of screening.

The Women’s selection committee and Junior Cricket Committee have been selected.

In a separate series of selections, the BCCI recently announced the opening on the Women’s Selection Committee. In addition, the cricket’s supreme governing body solicited applications for the Junior Cricket Committee. Mr. Jatin Paranjpe, Ms. Sulakshana Naik, and Mr. Ashok Malhotra, who were in charge of the CAC, screened candidates for the aforementioned positions.

Notably, the advisory committee also unanimously suggested Mr. VS Thilak Naidu and Ms. Shayama Dey Shaw for the Women and Junior cricket committees, respectively.
