US praises India for promising start of G20 under Indian stewardship

India is off to a very promising start with its stewardship of the G-20, the United States said Thursday after New Delhi hosted a highly successful meeting of the grouping’s foreign ministers.

US praises India for promising start of G20: “For the manner they have led the G-20 so far, our Indian allies have our sincere gratitude. India’s stewardship of the G-20 is off to a very promising start, but as you mentioned, there is still much work to be done over the course of this year “Ned Price, a spokesperson for the State Department, told reporters during his daily press conference.

Price noted that the connection with India is one of the most important ones the US has and that it was a topic of conversation between Secretary of State Tony Blinken and his counterpart, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in New Delhi.

And the reason for that is that “we work closely with India on pretty much everything that is a priority to us and everything that is a priority to India, increasing our mutual prosperity, supporting democracy, dealing with the climate crisis, and upholding a rules-based order grounded in international law,” he said.

In the context of the Indo-Pacific, the United States and India in particular find the rules-based order to be extremely essential, he said. It is advancing our shared goal with our Indian counterparts of creating and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Blinken and Jaishankar spoke about the preparations India has made to host the G-20 foreign and finance ministers, as well as the development of an agenda that will enable them to address the major concerns of international and strategic alliances.

According to Price, the G-20 is a crucial tool for both India and the US. “We have seen how the G-20 can unite nations for international cooperation. We believe that what we witnessed in India over the past few days was not an exception. For its part, the United States attended this gathering of foreign ministers with two goals in mind: first, to ensure that the G-20, once again led by India, was successful, which it was without a doubt; and second, to network with other nations’ foreign ministers “said Price.

“And second, to show how the United States and our partners are collaborating to create a world that is more prosperous, more sustainable, more inclusive in terms of the global economy, and that meets the needs of people around the world, whether those needs are for food, energy, health, or assistance in overcoming the obstacles and dangers that people face from fentanyl and other drugs.

In reply to a question, the State Department spokesperson stated that other nations have ties with Russia that are different from those of the US. “India undoubtedly fits into that group. India and Russia have a lengthy history together. Russians are linked to it in ways that Americans are not, and never have been, he said.
