Amlapura, Bali- Wanderela

Amlapura, also known as Karangasem, is a regency located on the eastern coast of Bali, Indonesia.

Amlapura, the district’s capital, serves as a major transportation hub and town intersection in eastern Bali. Nearly all areas of Bali are quite well connected to it. Even though it is the smallest of Bali’s district capitals, it is worthwhile to stop by and explore the many royal palaces.

Amlapura was known as Karangasem until the year 1963. At that time, the Agung volcano erupted violently and severely damaged the area. Karangasem was renamed Amlapura and given a new name in order to shake off any remaining “unlucky” associations.

The puri, or traditional palaces, are among Amlapura’s most notable attractions. There are various locations in Amlapura where one can find the northern, western, eastern, or southern puri. Members of the royal family continue to reside in these palaces. The Puri Kangin palace, which is situated on the eastern end, is the only one of all the palaces that is conveniently located. In addition, you can arrange a trip to the former Puri Agung Karangasem Palace, which served as the residence of the former King of Karangasem. Despite not being a popular stop for tourists visiting Indonesia, you can nevertheless arrange a trip here to see the wide variety of architectural wonders that are present.
