14 killed as Indore-bound bus falls off bridge in MP’s Khargone

Tuesday, a bus toppled off a bridge in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, killing at least fourteen people and injuring nearly twenty others.

According to the details, the bus was carrying more than fifty passengers at the moment of the accident.

The bus was traveling to Indore when it veered off the viaduct and plunged into the chasm below.

Locals in the area initiated a rescue operation, and accident victims were transported to a nearby hospital.

In the interim, Collector Shivraj Singh Verma arrived at the accident site.

The government of Madhya Pradesh announced ex-gratia payments of Rs 4 lakh to the deceased’s family members following the accident.

In addition, the state government has pledged Rs 50,000 for medical assistance for the severely injured and Rs 25,000 for the injured.

On Sunday, a BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) bus collided with a store in the western Mumbai suburb of Andheri.

The incident occurred on Mahakali road in Andheri (east), a transport authority spokesperson informed media.

According to him, the bus was traveling toward Andheri station when the driver lost control on a slope and crashed into a store.

While no injuries were reported, the establishment sustained some damage, the official reported, adding that a case has been filed against the driver.
