Politics has intensified in Pakistan regarding the appointment of a new army chief. It is being said that the Ministry of Defense has submitted a report to the PMO on Monday, in which five names have been suggested for the appointment of the new Army Chief. These include Lieutenant General Asim Munir, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas, Lieutenant General Nauman Mehmood and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed.

In such a situation, Pakistan’s Defense Ministry has suggested five names to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Monday regarding the appointment of a new army chief.

Under the Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952, the Defense Ministry has to provide the discharge summary of the current army chief to ensure the appointment of a new army chief. General Bajwa (61) is going to retire on November 29 after a three-year extension. He has already ruled out another term extension.

According to reports, the Prime Minister’s Office has received a report from the Ministry of Defense on Monday regarding the appointment of the new Army Chief. The report names five top generals, one of whom will be selected as the successor to General Javed Bajwa. However, the PMO has not confirmed receipt of any such report from the Defense Ministry.

Pakistan’s new army chief will take over on November 29. Bajwa is retiring after a tenure of six years.
