National Startup Advisory Council 2023: Today in New Delhi, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will preside over the sixth meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC) (March 11). According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with the theme of India in 2047, the NSAC will discuss important matters for the evolution of the Indian startup ecosystem, including Tech Landscape and the Way Forward, Innovation in Logistics, Making India the Global Skill Market, Innovation Hub, Women Entrepreneurship, Capacity Building of Domestic Capital, Thematic Seed Funds, etc.
At this meeting, Goyal is expected to unveil the Startup India Investor Connect portal, conceived by the NSAC and co-created by DPIIT and SIDBI.The National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC) was established by the Central Government to advise the Government on measures required to create a strong ecosystem for fostering innovation and startups in the country, resulting in sustainable economic growth and ample employment opportunities.
NSAC consists of members from concerned line Ministries, Departments, and Organisations, as well as non-official members representing various stakeholders, such as founders of successful startups, veterans who have grown and expanded companies in India, persons representing the interests of investors, incubators, and accelerators, and representatives of associations of startups’ stakeholders and industry associations, according to a Ministry statement.

NSAC plays a vital role in designating intervention areas for the expansion of the startup ecosystem, as well as in conceiving and fostering national programmes under the Startup India initiative. Incubated by NSAC are programmes such as MAARG, National Mentorship Program, Incubator Capacity Development Program, Adoption of NavIC Grand Challenge, Startup Champions 2.0, etc., according to a Ministry statement.
