On Friday, the Indian Tricolor was seen flies high outside the White House in Washington, D.C., prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States.
A New Jersey-based Indian national, Jesal Nar, said of the Indian flag flying outside the White House, “It’s a great honor and source of pride to see the tricolor. I travel throughout the United States for business while carrying a tricolor.”
“But the sight of the tricolor flying freely in front of the White House signifies the arrival of our esteemed prime minister Narendra Modi in Washington, DC for the new generation, engines, and everything.” Therefore, it would be a tremendous honor to witness more technological progress in India,” he said.
Next week, PM Modi will make his first state visit to the United States. From June 20-24, PM Modi will address the Joint Session of the United States Congress and interact with a number of American politicians, prominent citizens, and notable diaspora figures.
On the South Lawn of the White House, meanwhile, preparations are proceeding for the ceremonial welcome of Prime Minister Modi.
PM Modi is visiting the United States at the invitation of President and Mrs. Biden. The visit will begin in New York, where the Prime Minister will lead the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21 at the United Nations Headquarters.
The prime minister will then travel to Washington, D.C., where on June 22 he will receive a ceremonial greeting at the White House and meet with President Biden to continue their high-level dialogue. The same evening, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host a State Dinner in honor of the Prime Minister, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) press release.
At the invitation of US Congressional Leaders, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Senate Speaker Charles Schumer, PM Modi will address a Joint Session of the US Congress on June 22.

On June 23, the prime minister will be hosted by US Vice President Kamala Harris and State Secretary Antony Bilnken at a luncheon.In addition to official engagements, the Prime Minister is slated to have a number of carefully curated meetings with prominent CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders. He will also meet Indian Diaspora members.
