The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni Prime from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday.
The test flight was accomplished on the coast of Odisha at approximately 7:30 p.m. The flight test effectively demonstrated the missile’s objectives.
After performing well in three development trials, the Agni Prime missile passed its first pre-induction night launch with flying colors. The test flight validated the system’s precision and dependability. The successful test flight of the missile has paved the way for its incorporation into the military.
“On June 7, 2023, the First Pre-Induction Night Launch of the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni Prime was successfully conducted off the coast of Odisha,” tweeted DRDO.
In addition, range instrumentation such as Radar, Telemetry, and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems were deployed in various locations. According to the statement, these tracking systems were installed on two ships at the end of their range in order to collect flight data spanning the entire trajectory of the vehicle.
The ballistic missile test flight was conducted in the presence of senior DRDO and Strategic Forces Command officials. On DRDO’s achievement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and the Armed Forces for the success of the Agni Prime missile as well as its flawless performance.

The Secretary of Defense Research and Development and Chairman of the DRDO, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, applauded the DRDO team for its efforts in ensuring the accomplishment of the test flight.
