New Delhi:Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported that an IndiGo aircraft, VT-IMG, was suspended after sustaining a tail strike during landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on June 11. The incident occurred when the Kolkata-Delhi flight was attempting to land at the Delhi Airport, where the bottom of the aircraft’s tail struck the runway surface and sustained damage.
“On 11 June, IndiGo A321-252NX (Neo) VT-IMG was engaged in a tail strike while landing at Delhi while operating flight 6E-6183 Kolkata-Delhi. The flight was uneventful until it approached Delhi for landing. During the approach to runway 27, the crew sensed they floated longer than usual and initiated a go-around, according to the statement.
“During the go-around maneuver, the tail section of the aircraft likely contacted the runway surface and sustained damage.” The flight crew has been de-rostered pending an investigation, according to DGCA.
IndiGo Flight Enters Pakistan Airspace
On its way from Amritsar to Ahmedabad on Saturday of last week, an IndiGo Airlines flight was forced to penetrate Pakistani airspace for a brief period to avoid bad weather. After some time, the flight returned to Indian airspace and landed successfully in Ahmedabad. Saturday’s IndiGo flight 6E-645 had to deviate over Atari and into Pakistani airspace due to inclement weather, the airline said in a statement.

“Amritsar ATC successfully coordinated the deviation with Pakistan via telephone. The crew was in constant contact with Pakistan on R/T, and the flight landed successfully in Ahmedabad after the deviation, the statement added.
