The search for President Joe Biden home in Delaware began on Wednesday, according to his lawyer, in the latest stage of an investigation to find improperly held sensitive materials.
The Rehoboth Beach search, which was conducted “with the president’s full approval and cooperation,” came after previous searches yielded a modest number of documents in Biden’s house in Wilmington and a former office space in Washington, DC.
The steady trickle of news has weighed on Biden as he marks the halfway point of his first term and apparently prepares to announce his candidature for a second.
The Justice Department has hired a special counsel to conduct an independent inquiry, similar to the one leading the investigation into former President Donald Trump’s massive trove of secret materials seized at his Florida home.

According to the White House, Biden’s difficulty stems from inadvertently preserving records from his time as Vice President under Barack Obama a decade ago.
Unlike Trump, who refused to turn over hundreds of secret records after leaving the White House in 2021, Biden says he has been cooperating with investigators since the discovery in joe biden home of a few of sensitive materials in a former office he used at a Washington think tank.

More records were discovered during a subsequent FBI search of his main private residence in Wilmington. The property in Rehoboth, which he uses far less frequently, is now the third location to be searched by officials.
Bauer stated in his statement that the Justice Department conducted the Rehoboth Beach search without “prior public notice, and we agreed to assist.”
“Today’s search is another step in a rigorous and timely DOJ process that we will continue to fully support and enable. We will have more information at the end of today’s hunt.”
