The federal government has increased the dearness allowance (DA) for government employees and retirees by four percentage points, from 38% to 42%.Friday’s meeting of the Union Cabinet, commanded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resulted in the decision. The revised rate will be evaluated beginning in January 2023.
The combined effect of DA and dearness relief on the exchequer would be Rs 12,815,60 crore per year.This will benefit approximately 47.58 million government employees and 69.76 million retirees.

This raise follows the accepted formula, which is founded on the recommendations of the seventh Central Pay Commission.The last increase in allowance was announced by the government in September of last year, when the DA was raised from 34% to 38%.
Dearness The federal government provides an allowance to its personnel to help them adjust to an inflationary environment.Pensioners also receive the same quantity of dearness relief as federal government employees.
