Washington: On Friday, a US fighter aircraft was able to shoot down an unidentified object that was flying over Alaska, according to the White House. However, it is still unknown what the target was or where it came from.
John Kirby, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, said that the president had given orders for the military to destroy the item. According to him, the occurrence took place some time in the last hour, namely around 1930 GMT.
According to Kirby, the item was far smaller than the massive Chinese balloon that flew across the United States the previous week and was destroyed by a United States fighter aircraft off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday.
According to him, it was “about the size of a small vehicle” and was travelling at an altitude of around 40,000 feet.
According to Kirby, it dropped down in northern Alaska close to the Canadian border and landed on frozen water, which makes it possible to collect the object.
“We do anticipate to be able to collect the debris since it landed not only inside our territorial area, but also what we assume is frozen water, so a recovery attempt will be launched,” he added. “We do expect to be able to retrieve the debris.”

Because the object constituted “a reasonable danger” to aviation, Vice President Biden gave the order to shoot it down.
However, Kirby emphasised that there is currently no information available about the item.
He remarked, “We do not know who owns it, whether the state owns it or if a corporation owns it.” “We are not quite clear on the reason behind this.”
However, before to the object being shot down, the United States military sent an aircraft to investigate it, and “the pilot’s conclusion was that this was not human.”
