Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway: During his visit to Karnataka , Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate multiple projects, including the Bengaluru – Mysuru motorway. This will be the sixth visit by the prime minister to the state this year, during which he will inaugurate projects worth 16,000 crore.
Here are the 10 points about the inauguration of Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway
1.Modi will dedicate and set the cornerstone for significant road projects in Mandya at noon.
2.At approximately 3:15 p.m., he will inaugurate and set the cornerstone for several Hubballi-Dharwad development initiatives. Modi will dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation, which is considered to be the highlight of his trip.
3.The project entails widening the section of NH-275 between Bengaluru and Mysuru to six lanes. The 118-kilometer-long, 8,480-crore initiative will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from approximately 3 hours to approximately 75 minutes, according to a statement from the PMO.
4. The prime minister will also set the cornerstone for the four-lane highway between Mysuru and Kushalnagar. The project will be developed at a cost of approximately 4,130 crore over 92 kilometres. The initiative will play a crucial role in improving the connectivity between Kushalnagar and Bengaluru, reducing travel time from approximately 5 to only 2.5 hours.
5.Modi is expected to conduct a roadshow in Mandya and speak to a large crowd at Gejjalagere in Maddur taluk following the inauguration of the projects during his visit to the Vokkaliga-dominated district, which is of political significance for the ruling BJP ahead of the assembly election.
6.Modi will then travel to Hubballi-Dharwad to dedicate IIT Dharwad to the nation. In February 2019, he also set the foundation stone for the institute. The institute, which was constructed at a cost of more than Rs. 850 billion, presently offers 4-year BTech. programmes, an inter-disciplinary 5-year BS-MS programme, MTech and PhD programmes.
7.He will also consecrate the “world’s longest railway platform” at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station to the nation. Recently, the milestone was recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. The 1,507-meter-long platform was constructed at a cost of approximately 20 billion.
8.Modi is also scheduled to deliver a speech to a large crowd at the event, where he will also consecrate the electrification of the Hosapete-Hubballi-Tinaighat section and the upgrade of the Hosapete station to improve regional connectivity.
9.The electrification initiative, developed at a cost of over 530 crore, establishes seamless train operation on electric traction. The renovated Hosapete station will provide travellers with convenient and contemporary amenities.
10.Modi will also inaugurate and set the cornerstone for various smart city projects in Hubballi-Dharwad. He will also set the foundation stone for the Dharwad Multi Village Water Supply Scheme, which will be developed at a cost of more than Rs. 1,040 crore. According to the release, he will also set the cornerstone for the Tupparihalla Flood Damage Control Project, which will be constructed at a cost of approximately 150 crore.
