Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir fined 100% match fees for verbal spat; Naveen-ul-Haq to cough up 50% fee

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were fined 100 % of their match expenses for violating the Code of Conduct during Monday’s IPL match in Lucknow between RCB VS LSG.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were fined 100% of their match expenses for violating the Code of Conduct during Monday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Lucknow between Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

During the match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman and the Lucknow Super Giants’ team coach admitted to committing a Level 2 violation of Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Naveen-ul-Haq, a bowler for the LSG, was fined fifty percent of his match fees for violating the Code of Conduct. Naveen-ul-Haq acknowledged to the Level 1 violation of IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.21.

The altercation occurred after RCB had bowled LSG out for 108 after accumulating 126/9 in 20 overs, with KL Rahul batting with a leg injury in a futile effort to lead his team to victory. During the Lucknow innings, Kohli displayed his typical belligerent gestures upon the loss of wickets.

In the previous match between these two teams a month ago, LSG team mentor Gambhir signaled the RCB home audience to be quiet following LSG’s narrow victory. Not only did Kohli blow kisses to the Lucknow crowd when their team lost a wicket, but he also imitated Gambhir’s remain silent gesture by pressing his finger to his lips.

After the contest, the two shook hands and everything appeared to be in order. Kyle Mayers, the opening batsman for the LSG, walked up to Virat Kohli and began conversing before Gambhir intervened and removed Mayers. A short time after this incident, match footage showed Gautam Gambhir speaking animatedly with Virat Kohli. Others, including KL Rahul and support personnel, were seen separating the two. Then, Kohli was observed conversing at length with LSG captain KL Rahul.
