Gujarat Confidential: Potholed Image
Gujarat Confidential: A group of people in Vadodara wrote to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel about the potholed on Atal Bridge, which connects Manish Chowkdi to Genda Circle. The group said that low-quality materials and “corruption” were used to build the flyover because potholed started showing up only “40 days” after Patel opened the bridge on “good governance day” on December 25. In the letter, they say that the bridge “taints” the government’s reputation for good governance, especially since it is named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. They want an inquiry committee to look into this.

Rajmata Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad brought up the growing construction in the Sayaji Baug garden, which Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III gave to the city of Vadodara as a gift. Shubhanginiraje asked the city to stop paving over the garden, calling it the “lungs of Vadodara.” “At first, it was supposed to be an open space, but over time, a planetarium, a museum, and a few other buildings made of concrete went up there. But now, no more buildings should be built inside the garden,’ she said at an event where Vadodara Municipal Commissioner Banchanidhi Pani and BJP MLAs Balkrishna Shukla (Raopura) and Amit Thaker were present (Vejalpur, Ahmedabad). Shukla and Thaker agreed with Shubhanginiraje’s ideas and stressed that there should be no concrete structures in the garden. Sayajibaug is also home to a zoo and the Municipal Commissioner’s official bungalow.
